This is how these scams make their money. They require customers to pay them upfront for their services under the guise that they are refundable administrative fees or that they money is being held in escrow. They then either steal the money and disappear or are able to keep the money through fine print and contract loopholes. These fees can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars and can really put a hurt on someone’s finances.
